Senior Division
Overview
Al Haadi Academy’s Senior Division is a special place where academic excellence, respect for the individual, a keen sense of community, Islamic behavior, and active participation are the foundation. One of our priorities is instilling our students with a deep sense of Islamic identity aligned with our school’s values.
Our strong academic program is geared to prepare students for their high school experience. Students in the Intermediate Division take part in many inter-school competitions including Debates, Science fairs, Spelling bees, Quran Competitions, Poetry Competitions, and many sporting competitions throughout the year.
Students study a full curriculum as outlined by the ministry of education, with specialized teachers in different subject areas. Developing life-long learners who are equipped to meet the demands of the 21st century drives our programming. To meet the needs of our different learners, individual student profiles are addressed through differentiated instruction.
Student helpers support their peers and younger students by mentoring them and helping them develop their social skills. Our senior division grades (6-7&8) enjoy our field trips designed to build a cohesive cohort while extending learning beyond the classroom.
Senior Division Program
A team of student writers and editors produce our yearbook and graduation slides. Our students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities in their communities and other additional opportunities, which allow students to form strong friendships and develop learning and leadership skills which provide them with an excellent foundation for life beyond elementary school.
In the Senior Division, our focus shifts towards developing life-long learners that are empathetic, responsible, and ethical. We strive to promote in our students a greater consciousness and awareness of the world around them; an excitement to explore new visions and concepts; and develop Islamic values.
In this division, students study mainstream subjects with an emphasis on Islamic Integration. All subjects are Islamically grounded, helping us reach a deeper understanding of Islam and its presence in everyday life.
Our students in the senior division are encouraged to embody the Islamic character and develop traits of honesty, compassion, respect, tolerance, and leadership in order to become active Canadian citizens.
Due to our classes being small, teachers can thoroughly address academic strands in core subjects. Academics are taught within a context that fosters higher order skills such as analytical and critical thinking, organization, time management, and the skills needed to learn for life. Personal, local, and global issues that impact our students’ lives are explored and integrated into core and non-core subjects. Our aim is to create a program that is challenging, creative, relevant, and which lends a sense of purpose to the learning process.
In general, we strive to create a learning environment that addresses the needs of the whole student, and from which all students can benefit, regardless of their unique learning styles, abilities, and interests. Our academic courses, arts, Islamic studies curriculum, Quran, physical education program, school trips, school competitions and the outdoor classroom are considered equally important components of a well-rounded educational experience.

Salaam Alaikum, I am a proud parent of four Al Haadi Academy students and I really appreciate the efforts of the principal and all the staff and management for providing quality education both religiously and academically that certainly is helping them grow and succeed. I hope and pray the school grow stronger and stronger by each passing year.
Al Haadi’s qualities are numerous, but one thing stands out is their commitment to personal, one on one teaching of a nurturing style. The staff, students and curriculum are a second home to my children who have benefited greatly intellectually as well as socially and religiously.

My children have been attending Alhaadi academy from the very beginning. What a wonderful journey in academics and spirituality. The school provides a very modern academic curriculum along with many fun activities and religious programs. The teachers are always available to speak with, even outside school hours. The dedication and interest to each child by the teachers and their aides is obvious. The school has an air of community, caring and taking care of each other. Al Haadi Academy is the right place for my daughter where the school covers both Islamic and academic teachings.
